about university

What made your university special? What were the facilities where you studied and the university equipment like?
Bonn University is one of the best universities in Germany. The Institute of Geography is one of the oldest Geographic Institutes in Germany. However, this institute provides students with the latest technology and a good academic environment.
What is the first thing that comes to mind when you think about your "adoptive" university? What made it special? What were the premises where you studied and the university facilities like?
I was there to learn the software and its applications. I spent a lot of time discussing and learning about the software with the professor and a postdoctoral researcher from the research group. Therefore, I highly recommend this program and university to other students
What is student life like at university?
During my visit, it's easy for me to communicate with other students because they have a student union, and they also provide a place where students can play games or just to have discussions
Did you study in English or in the language of the host country? What language requirements does the university have?
Yes, around B2

about the city

What was your impression of the city? How would you describe it? What is interesting to see here?
Bonn is not too big a city, so it's quiet, and Beethoven was born and grew up in this city. We can visit the Beethoven Museum to learn more about his life and masterpieces. My favorite place is the botanical garden

about finances

In your experience, how far does the scholarship go? What percentage of your expenses did it cover? What is your opinion on prices in the country in general?
Having a student card and living far from the university means I don't spend much on public transport. We had student discounts at the cafeteria. The food was very cheap, but the accommodation was very expensive
Please advise your classmates on how to save money—Where to shop? What services can be used to save money?
To save money, you can buy groceries and cook by yourself. You can also have lunch in the cafeteria

about accommodation

What type of accommodation did you choose? Would you recommend it to others? If not, what type of accommodation do you think is best based on your experience (dormitory, private apartment, private dormitory, shared room, etc.)?
I lived with friends who studied at another university. If I were to make a recommendation, living in a dormitory is a better choice

about experiences

Did you use Erasmus stay to travel around your country/Europe? What are your best travel experiences? What would you not recommend?
Because I have a free ticket, I visited the nearest city. I was going to Düsseldorf and visited ramen restaurant.
Language and culture: what cultural differences did you notice? How did you cope with the national language? Was it also the language of your studies? Do you feel that your language skills improved during your stay?
Not at all. I use English daily and am currently occupied with learning new software

final rating

Why here? What makes this location special? Why would you send your friends to your country/city?
Bonn is quiet and good city for study.
