about university

What made your university special? What were the facilities where you studied and the university equipment like?
The University of Haute-Alsace is a renowned center for scientific research, particularly in the field of discourse and propaganda studies. The Faculty of Languages, Literature and Humanities, along with the university's research center, actively contribute to this field through research projects, conferences, seminars, and publications. This vibrant academic environment, shaped by the French tradition of discourse analysis, offers a unique opportunity to engage with leading experts and cutting-edge research.
What is the first thing that comes to mind when you think about your "adoptive" university? What made it special? What were the premises where you studied and the university facilities like?
The traineeship was very intensive, the staff was invaluable. I was engaged in different academic activities such as methodological meetings and seminars, conferences, study days, and organisation issues that helped me to improve my organisational skills. I will highly recommend this institution to other interns.
What is student life like at university?
Yes, there are student associations, however, I didn't communicate with them.
Did you study in English or in the language of the host country? What language requirements does the university have?
I communicated in English, And mostly, it was enough.

about the city

What was your impression of the city? How would you describe it? What is interesting to see here?
Mulhouse is a rather small but nice historical town with a cosmopolitan vibe.

about finances

In your experience, how far does the scholarship go? What percentage of your expenses did it cover? What is your opinion on prices in the country in general?
My scholarship covered only half of my expenses as rental costs are high and the cost of life in France is much higher that in Czech and Slovakia.
Please advise your classmates on how to save money—Where to shop? What services can be used to save money?
I preferred to buy groceries in Leclerc as it was the cheapest supermarket in the town.

about accommodation

What type of accommodation did you choose? Would you recommend it to others? If not, what type of accommodation do you think is best based on your experience (dormitory, private apartment, private dormitory, shared room, etc.)?
I chose a private apartment,

about experiences

Did you use Erasmus stay to travel around your country/Europe? What are your best travel experiences? What would you not recommend?
Thanks to my new fellows, I visited Basel, Nancy, and Strasbourg. These are beautiful cities. I would like to come there at least once more sometime.
Language and culture: what cultural differences did you notice? How did you cope with the national language? Was it also the language of your studies? Do you feel that your language skills improved during your stay?
There were not many cultural differences. I know French a little, but I achieved some progress; at least I started understanding what was said to me.

final rating

Why here? What makes this location special? Why would you send your friends to your country/city?
The university is really modern and inclusive with French charm.
