about university

What made your university special? What were the facilities where you studied and the university equipment like?
I think it is one of the most innovative an interesting organization that explores a very timely sphere of AI and Society. Currently there is not so many internship opportunities that will lay in this interdisciplinary field. I had my separate desk in the office that I was sharing with another three brilliant researchers.
What is the first thing that comes to mind when you think about your "adoptive" university? What made it special? What were the premises where you studied and the university facilities like?
Position of the interns is usually under the Phd students. You are helping them in their research and learning more for yourself rather than for the organization. That want you to explore all the societal field where AI has been integrated so that you are able to specialise in one certain area and explore it deeper.
What is student life like at university?
No, there is not any student associations or clubs because you are working with PhD students and professors, it is more like work environment rather than university one. But I enjoyed having coffee breaks and lunchs with colleagues.
Did you study in English or in the language of the host country? What language requirements does the university have?
I communicated in English both at the internship and outside in the city and everybody is fluent in English. There is no specific requirement for English level just to know it at decent level to be able to read academic literature and write a literature review.

about the city

What was your impression of the city? How would you describe it? What is interesting to see here?
I would say it might be a bit small but it is beautiful, calm and peaceful. My favorite place is any bench near the water and there are plenty of them!

about finances

In your experience, how far does the scholarship go? What percentage of your expenses did it cover? What is your opinion on prices in the country in general?
Norway is more expensive country than Czech Republic so the rent takes almost everything and then the rest is possible to spend on food.
Please advise your classmates on how to save money—Where to shop? What services can be used to save money?
I would say Rema 1000 grocery shop is the best bet and cooking at home is way more cheaper than dining out.

about accommodation

What type of accommodation did you choose? Would you recommend it to others? If not, what type of accommodation do you think is best based on your experience (dormitory, private apartment, private dormitory, shared room, etc.)?
I stayed at my relatives place so I can't recommend anything.

about experiences

Did you use Erasmus stay to travel around your country/Europe? What are your best travel experiences? What would you not recommend?
I have been to Breakstad and Trondheim only but I would recommend visiting Oslo, it is more vibrant and interesting, I was there many times and did not manage to go this time.
Language and culture: what cultural differences did you notice? How did you cope with the national language? Was it also the language of your studies? Do you feel that your language skills improved during your stay?
People there are very chill and practice work life balance as well as they pay a lot of attention to sports and try to be fit and healthy. I know a bit of Norwegian but I would not say it progressed.

final rating

Why here? What makes this location special? Why would you send your friends to your country/city?
I think NTNU is one of the most innovative universities in the world and Norway is very safe country so I would recommend it.
