What made your university special? What were the facilities where you studied and the university equipment like?
UCY měla hezký a nový kampus. Každý department měl vlastní malou budovu. Nachází se mimo centrum Nikósie, takže cesta k univerzitě je poněkud komplikovanější.
What is the first thing that comes to mind when you think about your "adoptive" university? What made it special? What were the premises where you studied and the university facilities like?
Administrativní přístup k Erasmus studentům před příjezdem byl komplikovaný, ale po začátku semestru se zlepšil. Studium na univerzitě je podobné tomu v ČR. V polovině semestru se konají midterms a na konci jsou finální písemné zkoušky. Každý předmět se koná dvakrát týdně a docházka je povinná. Vyučující mají dobrý přístup ke studentům.
What is student life like at university?
Na univerzitě se studenti mohou přidat do různých spolků a často byly vidět v kampusu různé akce, které přibližovaly kyperskou kulturu.

Na univerzitě se hovořilo převážně anglicky a požadovali úroveň B2.

Nikósie je praktické a pracující město, ve kterém není tolik turistů jako na zbytku Kypru. Všude jezdí auta a chodníky často neexistují. Na druhou stranu v ulicích kromě aut nikdo nikdy nebyl, takže jsem se cítila bezpečně. Zajímavým místem je národní park blízko univerzity, jelikož město samotné je dost stísněné a schází v něm zeleň. Ve městě se nachází spoustu studentů.

In your experience, how far does the scholarship go? What percentage of your expenses did it cover? What is your opinion on prices in the country in general?
Stipendium mi pokrylo přibližně 70 % výdajů. Obecně potraviny jsou velmi drahé a s příchodem léta a turistické sezóny se jejich cena zvedá. MHD je také poměrně drahé a vzhledem k jeho nespolehlivosti je často mnohem lepší se pohybovat pěšky.

Ušetřit se dá nakupováním lokálních produktů na trzích.

What type of accommodation did you choose? Would you recommend it to others? If not, what type of accommodation do you think is best based on your experience (dormitory, private apartment, private dormitory, shared room, etc.)?
Bydlela jsem v soukromém bytě spolu s dalšími 2 Erasmus studenty cca 20 min od centra. K univerzitě jezdily dva autobusy a cesta trvala přibližně 30 minut, což nebylo tak špatné. Nicméně univerzita se nachází na konci města a cesta do centra trvá cca 35 minut autobusem.

Univerzita je hezká a atmosféra v ní je přátelská. Kypr nabízí spoustu krásných míst jak u moře, tak v horách. Kvalita studia na UCY byla podobná UK.
