What made your university special? What were the facilities where you studied and the university equipment like?
Velmi pozitivní atmosféra. Lidé okolo univerzity byli vždy vstřícní a snažili se co nejlépe pomoci. Univerzitní budovy byly kombinace nových skvěle vybavených a architektonicky zajímavých staveb a tradiční britské architektury z 18. století. Univerzita byla výjimečná hlavně širokou škálou možností mimoškolního vyžití.
What is the first thing that comes to mind when you think about your "adoptive" university? What made it special? What were the premises where you studied and the university facilities like?
Překvapilo mě velké množství prázdnin, takže jsem musel praktikovat hodně studia ve volných dnech. Kurzy byly velmi orientované na celosvětové dění v médiích, což je oproti domácím kurzům rozdíl.
What is student life like at university?
Studentských spolků bylo nespočet. Já byl třeba členem Cheese society, kde jsme ochutnávali sýry z celého světa a také futsalového spolku. Takže studentský život byl skvělý.
Did you study in English or in the language of the host country? What language requirements does the university have?
Po celou dobu pouze v angličtině. Musím říct, že mi to pomohlo se rozmluvit.

Klidné studentské město s industriální minulostí. Dnes jsou továrny předělány na kulturní místa a tak si zanechávají "genius loci"

Pokrylo mi to asi 30%. Nejdražší bylo ubytování. Jídlo a služby byli asi o 30% dražší než v Praze.

Kolej od univerzity byla fajn, ale dá se najít i o mnoho levnější možnosti. Dobré je hledat s předstihem.

Výlety do Skotska a Walesu byly skvělé. Jediné mínus bylo, že vlaková doprava je velmi drahá.
Language and culture: what cultural differences did you notice? How did you cope with the national language? Was it also the language of your studies? Do you feel that your language skills improved during your stay?
Noční život a kultura nočních klubů je úplně jiná než u nás. Angličtina se mi určitě velmi zlepšila.
