about university
What made your university special? What were the facilities where you studied and the university equipment like?
Faculty of Chemistry, Jagiellonian University in Krakow, consists of the basic and advanced instruments necessitated for analytical chemistry specifically Laboratory for Forensic Chemistry team.
What is the first thing that comes to mind when you think about your "adoptive" university? What made it special? What were the premises where you studied and the university facilities like?
My position is a research traineeship. I contacted the professor to inquire about any available openings. The facility is equipped with both basic and advanced instruments, providing trainees with the opportunity to learn new skills. Therefore, I highly recommend this place.
What is student life like at university?
N/A
Did you study in English or in the language of the host country? What language requirements does the university have?
In the university and outside, only English is adequate.

about the city
What was your impression of the city? How would you describe it? What is interesting to see here?
Kraków is a bustling city, much like other major urban centers, but it is also home to many popular tourist destinations. I explored the city by running through its streets and parks, which allowed me to discover some of my favorite places:
– Wawel Royal Castle
– Main Market Square (Rynek Główny)
– St. Mary's Basilica
– Kazimierz District
– Planty Park
– Krakus Mound (Kopiec Krakusa)
– Wieliczka Salt Mine
– Vistula River Boulevards
– Kraków Zoo
about finances
In your experience, how far does the scholarship go? What percentage of your expenses did it cover? What is your opinion on prices in the country in general?
In my case, the amount of the scholarship is sufficient to cover daily living expenses, but not travel costs. However, I believe this is reasonable.
Please advise your classmates on how to save money—Where to shop? What services can be used to save money?
Supermarkets such as Kaufland, Biedronka, Lidl, and Carrefour provide cost-effective options for daily necessities. While convenience stores are widely available, their prices tend to be slightly higher. Nonetheless, dining at restaurants in the area generally offers good value for money.
Regarding transportation, I did not rely on it extensively, as I preferred to explore the city on foot. Walking not only allowed me to enjoy the surroundings but also served as an effective way to reduce expenses.

about accommodation
What type of accommodation did you choose? Would you recommend it to others? If not, what type of accommodation do you think is best based on your experience (dormitory, private apartment, private dormitory, shared room, etc.)?
I stayed in a shared apartment with separate, non-connecting rooms. Accommodation in the city center is quite expensive and can be chaotic.
about experiences
Did you use Erasmus stay to travel around your country/Europe? What are your best travel experiences? What would you not recommend?
Kraków has a large train station and an international airport, making it easy to get there and travel around Poland. Trams and buses are the main forms of public transportation in the city. Taxis, Uber, and Bolt are also convenient options.
Language and culture: what cultural differences did you notice? How did you cope with the national language? Was it also the language of your studies? Do you feel that your language skills improved during your stay?
Polish language is quite close to Czech. (I can understand some Czech) So, I can catch up some of them. However, the main used language is still English. And of course, basic greetings to communicate with local people outside is still necessary .
final rating
Why here? What makes this location special? Why would you send your friends to your country/city?
The faculty is equipped with both basic and advanced instruments essential for analytical chemistry. Research activities cover a broad range of chemistry topics. Additionally, the faculty regularly hosts interesting lectures and workshops led by international professors. Therefore, I would recommend this place to anyone looking to broaden their research horizons.
