What made your university special? What were the facilities where you studied and the university equipment like?
I loved the organization where I did my internship. It was a lot more modern and comfortable than I expected. The overall experience was fantastic, with excellent planning and organization. The organizers were passionate, making it very engaging and interesting. The city and university were a bit older and less renovated, but still very nice. They had a relaxed and warm feeling, provided by a welcoming community.
What is the first thing that comes to mind when you think about your "adoptive" university? What made it special? What were the premises where you studied and the university facilities like?
My Erasmus+ experience at Lodz University was only one week long, so I didn’t participate in the day-to-day life of a regular student. However, the organization made us all feel very welcome and appreciated right from the start. We also got to talk to some local students, which reinforced this positive impression. The representatives were approachable and supportive. I would recommend this place to other interns, as the welcoming atmosphere and the engaging interactions made it a valuable experience.
What is student life like at university?
University life at Lodz University, based on my one-week Erasmus+ experience, was vibrant and welcoming. The organization made us feel appreciated from the start. Although I didn't experience the day-to-day student life, I interacted with local students who shared positive insights. There were student-led events, including a memorable day filled with various activities, which was amazing. The university also seemed to offer student associations and electives introducing the language and culture of the country. Overall, the welcoming atmosphere and well-organized activities made the experience enjoyable and memorable.
Did you study in English or in the language of the host country? What language requirements does the university have?
I communicated solely in English during my time at Lodz University. Although it was sometimes challenging with local students, it was never really a problem. Everyone, regardless of their language proficiency, made an effort to communicate. The university’s language requirements were not an issue, as the staff and students were accommodating and willing to help.

What was your impression of the city? How would you describe it? What is interesting to see here?
Modern Lodz is a blend of old charm and contemporary vibes. It's a bustling yet peaceful city with a strong student presence. The city offers interesting sites like Piotrkowska Street, Manufaktura, and vibrant parks. My favorite places were the lively cafes and historical buildings, providing a warm and welcoming atmosphere.

In your experience, how far does the scholarship go? What percentage of your expenses did it cover? What is your opinion on prices in the country in general?
Prices in Lodz were very reasonable, and I did not find it any trouble to manage financially with my scholarship. The scholarship covered a significant portion of my expenses, making it quite manageable. In general, the cost of living in the country was affordable, allowing for a comfortable stay.
Please advise your classmates on how to save money—Where to shop? What services can be used to save money?
To save money in Lodz, shop at local markets and discount stores like Biedronka or Lidl. Use student discounts for public transport and dining, and take advantage of free or low-cost cultural events around the city.

What type of accommodation did you choose? Would you recommend it to others? If not, what type of accommodation do you think is best based on your experience (dormitory, private apartment, private dormitory, shared room, etc.)?
The university provided us with a dormitory room, which was very clean, more modern than expected, and comfortable. It was slightly outside the city, allowing for relaxing evenings. I would recommend this option to others, as it offered a good balance of comfort and tranquility.

Did you use Erasmus stay to travel around your country/Europe? What are your best travel experiences? What would you not recommend?
During my stay, I carpooled with other students, which was a simple and highly recommended experience. It allowed us to explore the country easily. However, be aware that Polish drivers can be quite interesting! Overall, carpooling was convenient and a great way to see more of Poland.
Language and culture: what cultural differences did you notice? How did you cope with the national language? Was it also the language of your studies? Do you feel that your language skills improved during your stay?
The one-week stay was too short for any significant language shifts, although I did learn some Polish words, which was nice. The Erasmus+ program covered a lot about culture and history, which was fascinating. This gave me a totally new and improved image of Lodz and Poland as a whole.
