about university
What made your university special? What were the facilities where you studied and the university equipment like?
It is a famous university in France. It has two campuses, in the centre of Lyon and a bit far away in the South of the city. I had four courses, two in French and two in English. The university has a wonderful library and a lot of space where students can prepare their projects or just chill after classes.
What is the first thing that comes to mind when you think about your "adoptive" university? What made it special? What were the premises where you studied and the university facilities like?
Yes, the study process is different. First of all, there is no system with all courses where you can choose any course from any faculty. It is necessary to visit every faculty and every department to get a schedule which is incredibly inconvinient. However, teachers are ready to help.
What is student life like at university?
Yes, there are some student organisations. I also took a course of the French language that was free. I know that the uni provided us with some excursions, but i did not participate.
Did you study in English or in the language of the host country? What language requirements does the university have?
Yes, I spoke both English and French. I have to say that at least a basic level of French is mandatory because just a few professors speak a bit of English.

about the city
What was your impression of the city? How would you describe it? What is interesting to see here?
The city is wonderful. It is very beautiful with a mix of architecture. I really enjoyed food in Lyon. You can also find different museums, galleries, bars and clubs there. However, sometimes I felt a bit unsafe at night.
about finances
In your experience, how far does the scholarship go? What percentage of your expenses did it cover? What is your opinion on prices in the country in general?
My scholarship covered my accomodation for the entire period and the first month. I traveled a lot so I used my own savings and salary. I am working so it was not a big problem.
Please advise your classmates on how to save money—Where to shop? What services can be used to save money?
There are some tips how to save money in Lyon. First of all, Crous canteens are the best places to eat healthy and cheap. They are located in different parts of the city so it is not hard to find one. Moreover, I used the app Too Good Too Go where you can get food from many restaurants and bakeries at the end of the day for a better price.

about accommodation
What type of accommodation did you choose? Would you recommend it to others? If not, what type of accommodation do you think is best based on your experience (dormitory, private apartment, private dormitory, shared room, etc.)?
The universty helped me find the accomodation. I was living in a Crous residence. I had my own studio with big windows in a nice area near the metro station la place Jean Jores. I definitely recommend this one. The rent was about 400 euros which is a really good price for France.
about experiences
Did you use Erasmus stay to travel around your country/Europe? What are your best travel experiences? What would you not recommend?
Language and culture: what cultural differences did you notice? How did you cope with the national language? Was it also the language of your studies? Do you feel that your language skills improved during your stay?
final rating
Why here? What makes this location special? Why would you send your friends to your country/city?
