What made your university special? What were the facilities where you studied and the university equipment like?
Otevřená. Všude byl přístup i pro lidi mimo univerzitu, kampus byl přátelský, nacházelo se zde mnoho místa, kde studující mohou trávit svůj volný čas, vybavená knihovna a studovny, jídelny, možnost ohřátí vlastního jídla apod.
What is the first thing that comes to mind when you think about your "adoptive" university? What made it special? What were the premises where you studied and the university facilities like?
Přístup se asi příliš nelišil, v rámci letní školy byla většina z nás z doktorského studia, konverzace a debaty probíhaly jednoduše a bez paternalismu či zkoušení. Kurzy byly jak frontální, tak debatní.
What is student life like at university?
Byla jsem tam pouze 14 dní, toto nemohu posoudit.
Did you study in English or in the language of the host country? What language requirements does the university have?
Komunikace probíhala výhradně anglicky.

Město je rušné, ale zároveň bezpečné. Pozitivně hodnotím jeho infrastrukturu, vybudování cyklostezek, zeleně ve městě apod.

In your experience, how far does the scholarship go? What percentage of your expenses did it cover? What is your opinion on prices in the country in general?
Bohužel stipendium nepokrylo ani polovinu požadované částky ze zahraniční univerzity. Letní škola s ubytováním (na kolejích) stála 2300 euro, dále 500 euro doprava do Amsterdamu a v rámci něj. Stipendium bylo pouze cca 1200 euro na tu dobu. Nizozemsko je velmi drahé.
Please advise your classmates on how to save money—Where to shop? What services can be used to save money?
Příliš ušetřit se tam nedá, půjčení kola také není nejlevnější a městská doprava je poměrně drahá, platí se od ujetého počtu kilometrů.

Bydlela jsem na koleji v rámci systému Liven de Key, který letní škola doporučila za cenu 800 eur na dva týdny. Bylo to ve výsledku nejlevnější ubytování, které bylo poměrně hezké, soukromý pokoj s menší kuchyní a koupelnou.

V rámci Nizozemska jsem jela ještě do dvou měst vlakem, do vnitrozemí a na pobřeží Severního moře.
Language and culture: what cultural differences did you notice? How did you cope with the national language? Was it also the language of your studies? Do you feel that your language skills improved during your stay?
Holandština se mi velmi líbí, díky znalosti němčiny jsem spoustě základním věcem rozuměla.

Strávit nějaký čas na University of Amsterdam mě nabilo pozitivní energií a vírou, že otevřené prostředí akademie je možné.
