Univerzita byla moderně vybavená a elegantní.
What is the first thing that comes to mind when you think about your "adoptive" university? What made it special? What were the premises where you studied and the university facilities like?
Přístup do systému jsem dostal až týden po začátku výuky. Do té doby jsem si musel svoje předměty hledat na nepřehledných papírových vývěskách a rozvrzích, kde nebyly ani kódy předmětů, ani názvy, pouze zkratky. O studentském průkazu ani nemluvím, ten jsem dostal až v polovině pobytu. Studijní poradce přidělují podle mateřského jazyka, ale češtináře samozřejmě neměli, takže mi hodili nějakého Belgičana, který mi neodpověděl na jediný email a nikdy jsem ho neviděl. Na sekretariátu mě vždy elegantně poslali do háje, když jsem se šel na cokoliv zeptat. Jinak učitelé byli vstřícní a příjemní a zkoušky zvladatelné.

Je nutné umět francouzsky, anglicky se domluvíte málokde.

Město je ponuré a depresivní. Vypadá to tam, jako by se všichni odstěhovali a nechali to chátrat. Většina obchodů je zavřená. Všechno je daleko.

In your experience, how far does the scholarship go? What percentage of your expenses did it cover? What is your opinion on prices in the country in general?
Stipendium pokrylo všechny výdaje a ještě mi zbylo, i když by bylo fajn, kdyby i přišlo včas. V supermarketech je celkem draho, takže si buď musíte udělat půldenní výlet do Lidlu, kde je trochu levněji, nebo se uskrovnit.

Nakupovat v Lidlu, vařit sám, prát s někým ve dvojici.

Bydlel jsem na koleji, i když bylo složité se na ni dostat. Doporučuji rezervovat předem spolu s běžnými studenty a nečekat na erasmovou koordinátorku, ta je neustále nedostupná a zařizuje pozdě. Soukromé ubytování na půl roku je prakticky nemožné sehnat.

Nic moc k vidění v Belgii není. Historické budovy jsou pěkné, ale Praze se to nevyrovná.

Francouzsky se mi dařilo se domluvit, rozhodně jsem se zlepšil a naučil jsem se mluvit lépe.
