about university

What made your university special? What were the facilities where you studied and the university equipment like?
Great and dynamic working environment, friendly colleagues, and the opportunity to connect with many experts and scholars, the institute is involved in a lot of different activities, from education, to projects, and the organisation of events. The institute further offers support to policy-making and analysis. The office was also well equipped, just a bit crowded at times.
What is the first thing that comes to mind when you think about your "adoptive" university? What made it special? What were the premises where you studied and the university facilities like?
Interns have to support with pretty much any aspect of the life of the institute, according to the supervisor's needs and requests. Activities range from offering support to background research for papers and articles, to editing, to posting on social media, keeping events minutes and writing summaries, supporting event organisation and so on.
What is student life like at university?
Did you study in English or in the language of the host country? What language requirements does the university have?
Only Englsh was required in the working environment, but knowing German would definitely be a plus.

about the city

What was your impression of the city? How would you describe it? What is interesting to see here?
Vienna is the best city I have ever lived in. International, clean, well-organised, easy to navigate with public transport, offers a great variety of indoor and outdoor activities. My favorite places where Ringstrasse with all of its pretty buildings, and the Danube / Donauinsel and Kahlenberg mountain with their stunning nature.

about finances

In your experience, how far does the scholarship go? What percentage of your expenses did it cover? What is your opinion on prices in the country in general?
The real challenge is paying rent, but groceries and public transport are not cheap either. It can be somewhat managed, but one must be careful on how they spend their money.
Please advise your classmates on how to save money—Where to shop? What services can be used to save money?
Look for ESN / student orientd actviities and discounts. Budget ahead.

about accommodation

What type of accommodation did you choose? Would you recommend it to others? If not, what type of accommodation do you think is best based on your experience (dormitory, private apartment, private dormitory, shared room, etc.)?
Shared flat, i lived with a friend. Location was one of the most important factors in choosing the place and indeed it worked out perfectly.

about experiences

Did you use Erasmus stay to travel around your country/Europe? What are your best travel experiences? What would you not recommend?
Sadly, i did not have enough time to visit other places around Vienna. Would have loved going to Bratislava.
Language and culture: what cultural differences did you notice? How did you cope with the national language? Was it also the language of your studies? Do you feel that your language skills improved during your stay?
I took two language courses, my german imporved but was still not enough to communicate smoohly with locals on everyday topics. easy to integrate with other internationals, of which there is plenty of.

final rating

Why here? What makes this location special? Why would you send your friends to your country/city?
The city was amazing, and my uni had a previous partnership with the OIIP, which influenced my choice of going to Vienna.
