about university

What made your university special? What were the facilities where you studied and the university equipment like?
The university was quite new and big and really well organized. Unfortunately, it was really far from the city centre and during the manifestations that occured this year in France sometimes it was impossible to go to university because public transports were not working properly.
What is the first thing that comes to mind when you think about your "adoptive" university? What made it special? What were the premises where you studied and the university facilities like?
Like at Charles University every professor has a proper method, but more or less the managing of the courses were almost the same. Unfortunately, for many courses I attended the exams for foreign students were different from the exams for french student, and personally I didn't really love this distinction
What is student life like at university?
The students at the university they are deeply motivated and committed. The university has plenty of associations, that can be someting related to policy, volounteering, sport, music etc. Moreover, the first week (the integration week) is really intense, and you have the chance also to do some activities in the city and discover a bit the culture and the places, as well as you have the chance to spend time with other erasmus students and socialize
Did you study in English or in the language of the host country? What language requirements does the university have?
The university gives you the possibility to chose between french and english track so it is up to you the language you want to improve

about the city

What was your impression of the city? How would you describe it? What is interesting to see here?
The city is really nice and different in its way. The city centre is pretty old but really cozy and then there are the two sides of the river, one older and one more modern and then there is the newer part. The city gives you the possibility to attend many activities during the day, there are many parks with sport equipment or skates parks. The city is also well connected by transports but there are not enough night buses.

about finances

In your experience, how far does the scholarship go? What percentage of your expenses did it cover? What is your opinion on prices in the country in general?
Yes I received a scholarship but France is actually really expensive so the scholarship covered only my house rent.
Please advise your classmates on how to save money—Where to shop? What services can be used to save money?
Once you live in the city you understand the best places where to shop. It depends a lot on the zone that you live in

about accommodation

What type of accommodation did you choose? Would you recommend it to others? If not, what type of accommodation do you think is best based on your experience (dormitory, private apartment, private dormitory, shared room, etc.)?
If you want to save money it is better the dormitory but they are not quite nice or clean, but they are close to the university but really far away from the centre, and the night buses are only a few. Even if in the city centre the houses are pretty old, but yoy have everything you need around you so you could even save money on transports.

about experiences

Did you use Erasmus stay to travel around your country/Europe? What are your best travel experiences? What would you not recommend?
Bordeaux is a really nice location, close to Spain and close to the ocean so I also had the chance to surf and living new experiences.
Language and culture: what cultural differences did you notice? How did you cope with the national language? Was it also the language of your studies? Do you feel that your language skills improved during your stay?
Yes, french was the language of my study so I had the chance to improve it! I sure noticed some cutlural differences but that's the best part of living abroad.

final rating

Why here? What makes this location special? Why would you send your friends to your country/city?
