about university
What made your university special? What were the facilities where you studied and the university equipment like?
First of all, Alma Mater Studorium Universita di Bologna is the oldest university in the world, the tradition and the history of its campuses and buildings is really unique. Not everyone has had the opportunity to say: I study at the oldest university in the world. And when you are there, in its classrooms, in its libraries and in the fascinating city of Bologna, you understand how it has endured all these centuries and has received students from all over the world. Many of the buildings that house the university institutes preserve the old style and architecture of the Renaissance, or some a little older, this contrasts with the more modern classrooms but in general all the places where you take classes and study have everything you need.
What is the first thing that comes to mind when you think about your "adoptive" university? What made it special? What were the premises where you studied and the university facilities like?
I consider that the study methods are very similar to those of Charles University, as well as the evaluation methods. Academic freedom allows professors to decide how to always evaluate from an objective perspective. In my case I was evaluated with projects and a presentation, a written exam and an oral exam.
What is student life like at university?
The University of Bologna has various activities for students, in the case of international students the main club is the ESN, who through local students organize meetings, sports activities, trips, city tours, etc. Likewise, the University's Language Center offers you the opportunity to take an Italian course to complement it with the courses you take in your study program.
Did you study in English or in the language of the host country? What language requirements does the university have?
In the case of the language, it will depend on the courses you want to take, the study program, but in my case I took all my classes completely in English, if you want to take classes in Italian you must demonstrate your proficiency before enrolling in the courses.

about the city
What was your impression of the city? How would you describe it? What is interesting to see here?
Describing Bologna is very complex. Despite being a small city, I think it has everything. The history, the beauty, the opportunities. The city center, which preserves the structure of the ancient city (everyone refers to it within the walls, since part of the medieval city wall is still preserved to differentiate it) you find everything you need, most of the The university campuses are there (almost all of them concentrated in the so-called university area) if you manage to get accommodation near this area you will not have to use transportation almost at all, you can walk anywhere within the center or use the bicycle. It is very popular. In this part of Bologna we can feel that there is a lot of bustle during the day and night, many places to drink coffee, study, go to the supermarket, pharmacies, and without a doubt one of my favorite places is Piazza Maggiore, the main square of the city, a cultural and social meeting point.
about finances
In your experience, how far does the scholarship go? What percentage of your expenses did it cover? What is your opinion on prices in the country in general?
Italy is a little more expensive than the Czech Republic and Bologna specifically has higher prices in general, starting with rent, it is very complicated to find a good place to rent in Bologna, in the short term and at a good price. In my case I found a shared room in a shared apartment for 550 euros per month plus expenses, technically the scholarship only helped me cover the rent and I had to pay the rest of my living costs
Please advise your classmates on how to save money—Where to shop? What services can be used to save money?
What you can do to save is to try to live in the university's student residences, but the cheapest ones are somewhat far from the center. In order not to spend so much when shopping, I consider that a good option is the Conan supermarkets, they have good prices and you can accumulate points to have discounts

about accommodation
What type of accommodation did you choose? Would you recommend it to others? If not, what type of accommodation do you think is best based on your experience (dormitory, private apartment, private dormitory, shared room, etc.)?
You have to be very patient, the offer of places to rent in Bologna is very problematic and the demand is very high, even though I started looking for options 3 months before, it was very difficult to find a suitable option for me, the problem is Many times the owners do not want to rent to Erasmus students because of the short stay, many want you to sign a contract for at least 1 year and those who offer to stay for less time have very high prices.
about experiences
Did you use Erasmus stay to travel around your country/Europe? What are your best travel experiences? What would you not recommend?
When traveling, the location of Bologna is very good for getting to know many cities in Italy, mainly in the north: cities like Verona, Padova, Venice, Milan, Florence are very well connected by trains and buses. Another unmissable trip is to the micronation of the Republic of San Marino, the culture, the language and in general everything is as if you were still in Italy but this country is proudly the first independent republic in Europe
Language and culture: what cultural differences did you notice? How did you cope with the national language? Was it also the language of your studies? Do you feel that your language skills improved during your stay?
About the language... Bologna is a kind of Cosmopolitan city because you can find thousands of students from any country and in most places the people are speaking in English, despite this I always tried to practice my Italian and I can say that I improved my ability to understand being there although my classes were in English
final rating
Why here? What makes this location special? Why would you send your friends to your country/city?
Bologna has something charming, it has Italian culture at its maximum expression but also what is necessary to feel in an international environment where you can find people from different places who join you to live with the local culture. The University of Bologna also undoubtedly has an excellent academic level and helps you develop your academic and professional skills
