IOM Global Access Internship Programme | with most of the costs covered

Every year, IOM welcomes hundreds of interns to work in IOM offices worldwide. IOM is present in more than 550 field locations around the worldassisting governments in managing migration flows, providing support to migrants across the world, developing effective responses to the shifting dynamics of migration and providing advice on migration policy and practice. We require a wide variety of professionals to carry out our mandate.

This special internship programme, which is a sub-set of IOM’s regular internship programme, wishes to target specifically talented young professionals from nationalities from Member States that are not represented or have low representation among our international professional workforce.

These 21 vacancies are being published to attract talent that will be able to work and learn in several IOM offices. IOM will pay a stipend to cover basic costs, and for these internships IOM also covers travel and visa costs. The aim is to remove obstacles that may get in the way for some of these professionals in joining and learning about IOM’s valuable work in the field of migration.

Interns are selected for a 6-month period through a highly competitive process, which usually includes an online test and/or an interview. Internships are a good entry point in the Organization and represent a professional development opportunity for interns, who gain work experience and can contribute to IOM’s work with their knowledge, skills and diverse experiences.

  • The aim is for these interns to start between July and August. The exact starting date will be discussed with the hiring office.

How long is the internship?
