International Summer Course (HSK)

29 August to 27 September 2024

The International Summer Course is held in September immediately before the start of our Winter Semester and offers 4 weeks of instruction in the German language, with a focus on basic grammar, cultural background, text production and communicative skills.

The special character of the International Summer Course lies in its programme of individual mentoring. Not only does this approach help your students to get acquainted with the University, but it also introduces them to the city of Giessen and everyday life in Giessen as well as its environs. The International Summer Course also organises trips to diverse places all over Germany as well as interactive workshops. At the end of the Summer Course, participants receive a certificate indicating the number of ECTS points (4) obtained.

The International Summer Course is not only ideal for exchange students of our partner university, but also for all international students who would like to improve their knowledge of German and get to know the university and the city of Giessen.

Northumbria’s in-person International Training Week (ITW) is back! It will take place from 21st-25th October. This year we would like to invite you to explore the concept of "Social Justice at the Heart of International Mobility", considering any student who is abroad on an international mobility programme.  These experiences, whether, study, work or volunteering, for any length of time, have a deep impact on a person's life.  In order to provide the best possible experience to our students, we must consider several areas, such as their sense of belonging, mental health, finances, amongst others.  This week we will explore those issues and share best practice on how to resolve them, train colleagues and reflect on our experiences.

The ITW will include a Study Abroad fair, where you will be able to promote your institution to our students, which will take place on 22nd October.

We are cordially inviting you and your colleagues to be part of 4th Winter Academy organising by Institute for Peace and Dialogue, IPD which will take place in Basel, Switzerland during the 17 - 27 November, 2024 at the Hotel Rheinfelderhof.

This event will be useful to get academic knowledge and as well work-field base experience by involved experienced experts, as well building fruitful network and spend unforgettable time in Switzerland.
